the met, the cloisters, and grad alley

I finally saw the famous chariot at the Met Museum on Wednesday. I thought it would be larger than it was… but then, as Dieuly said it, you have to take into account how short people were at the time it was built. That, and it could have been a chariot built for a child (at least, I’d like to think so). It took us a while to find it even though it was initially 10 feet above our heads until someone sent us on a wild goose chase around the entire museum. Although, it was a much needed diversion, because it’s been a while since I last wandered around the Met…

They moved Edvard Munch’s “Vampire” to the lower level (I remember it from my first year at NYU when I wrote a paper about it) – the opposite mezzanine is currently showcasing a bit of work by Warhol and a number of contemporary artists – there’s a new exhibition on Barcelona’s Gaudi and Dali – Frank Stella’s architecture is freaky awesome – the rooftop garden was perfect on a sunny 80-degree day…

I’ve never been to the Cloisters so I decided to give it a try on the same day.

(NEVER take the bus to the Cloisters… it’ll take you a more than an hour to get there – take the train and you’ll make it in less than half an hour, plus a 10 minute walk.)

Manhattan is sooooooo beautiful past 190th St. It’s CLEAN.

I’d love to go back one of these days for a picnic… or a run…

Grad Alley was the same day, so after the Cloisters – we took the A train down to W. 4th St… I can’t wait to graduate! WSP was packed – there were students and parents everywhere… soooooooooooooooo much free food, ice cream, and ice pops! (lol)

I flashed my NYU ID, which currently indicates that I’m part of the class of 2007 – technically, 2007 is my graduating class… but with my second major, I picked up another year (but it still totals 4 years so I’m not really paying any more than I was “supposed” to)

There were fireworks at 8:00 PM – but the sun hadn’t set yet – it was weird that it started so early…

Yesterday was the last day for students to move out of U-Court… the place is so empty, except for my uber amazing room – chilled with Sebo most of yesterday… I’m sad that he’s moving to the walk-up tomorrow and Mike’s going upstairs…

Then again, if my floor is largely empty and I’m the only person living in my room this summer – holy shit…
